Undefined note cards

I hope you had a fantastic weekend and had a chance to enjoy the nice weather!

I split my weekend between hockey and family time and stamping class on Sunday!  I am happy to share I finished 16 of my own Christmas cards!!  This is the earliest I have EVER started!!  Now the plan it to address them before my next Christmas class.  I'll keep you updated on how that one goes!

The class attendees made a total of 144 cards in one day!!!  Isn't that fabulous!  Now to get started on the Christmas shopping . . .

Kidding . . . just kidding.

Now to why to check in here every day.  CARDS!

I had a few moments to carve a few stamps using the Undefined stamp kit.  There is one retired set from A LONG time ago that I have always loved and can never find.  It's the house from first Ronald McDonald House Charities stamp set and so I had a friend stamp her image and then I "copied" it as best I could.

I love making stamps that I can use and use again. This adorable house makes a great house warming card, wedding card or thank you card.

Here is a close up of the stamp.

And each card I stamped is a bit different.  They were all made with the 3 1/2 x 5 note cards from Stampin UP.

Stamped with Pacific Point and the sentiment is from the set Oh, Hello
I used markers to ink the stamp in this card and Basic Gray ink for the sentiment.

This one is stamped in Staz-On and then coloured with markers and a Blender pen.  I used markers on the sentiment as well.

Tomorrow I will share the details of an upcoming class!  I hope you can join me in the fun!

Cheers,
K

Kids Craft Fair for Kids by Kids!

I am participating in a Kids Craft Fair (geared towards the Kid buyer) at the Lake Bonavista Community Center on Dec 7th. I thought this would be a great opportunity to have some young crafters have fun creating and raise some money in the process.  **This sale is separate from their regular craft fair and ALL proceeds raised from this event will be donated to a charity to be determined by the group.

Last June, when I organized the kids cardmaking event for Alberta Flood Fund it dawned upon me that I don't do enough of this stuff with my own kids.  We may donate to different charities throughout the year but we don't often involve the kids.  Now, Andrew and Nathan would NOT participate in a CRAFTING event (it would be like pulling teeth) but I know some kids that just love to play with paper and punches and this would be FUN!  The whole goal of organizing this event is to make it enjoyable for the kids and teach a little goodwill in the process.

Please discuss this with your child before you "volunteer" them to join. Explain the reason why they are joining and if they have any insight as to what  charity/cause they may like to donate to.

At my weekend Kids Camp we made two other cards as well.  My goal for this year's Kids Camp is to create a funky fold card at each camp and this months' card was the Criss Cross card.

Please contact me to join my Kids Craft Fair group!

Kids Camp begins!!

I love the first Kids Camp to start the year!  It's my "back to school".  New kids, new projects and new fun!

This project began with a brainstorm one night that I couldn't sleep (that happens often).

I found these blank calendars at Walmart, laminated them.  Add a 12x12 canvas, some paper and punches and TONS of Mod Podge and VOILA!

It was soo hard to keep this project on the down low - I wanted to share it with everyone but I kept it secret!  My Club Create kids made their own version of this board and I hope this calendar will keep them organized!

Some of the papers were modge podged and some were popped up!

This is a photo of the work in progress!  We weren't sure if it was bomb that went off or punch art maddness!

Here was the alternate version my kids in the group Inky Thumbs  (7-9 year olds) made.  They were all amazing and unique in their own way.

If you have kids that love to craft be sure to check out my posting tomorrow about my Kids Craft Fair for Kids by Kids!

Cheers,
K

Cardmaker's Sept projects

A great time was had Tues and Wed with the beginning of my Cardmaker's group.  We meet on the 2nd Tues or Wed of each month and if you'd like to see what we do contact me to try out next month's class.

Each month we make 3 projects or cards.  One of them is a technique page.

Here is a 3D card using the Papillion Potpourri set.

Love the new Magical Masking technique.  Coupled with the Another Thank You Polymer set makes a simple card WOW!

This technique is SOOO super easy.  Only if you can steal your husband's painter tape without him noticing :)

Hope you have a great weekend!  Ours includes our first ball hockey game (it starts again) and Kids Camp on Sunday!  Can't wait!

Cheers,
K

An amazing (but tiring) day! (long post)

With the flooding that occurred in Alberta this past summer there were many families and people that were affected, including Stampin UP demonstrators.  After I organized and implemented my Alberta Flood fundraiser for kids I was asked to lead a small team of Canadian demonstrators called the Compassionate Service Team.  We are still in the planning stages of our team and all the great things we can accomplish but our first and most urgent job was identifying and assisting demos that were affected by the flooding.  They needed our help NOW!

An email was sent to demonstrators across Canada to send any products to help these fellow demos in need.  I had the fortunate and unbelievable task of talking with demonstrators that lost their homes, stamp spaces and everything in it - can't even imagine!  Many more lost furniture, clothing, toys and so much more. I was touched to no end chatting with these wonderful ladies and what they have had to endure!

Last week we saw what was donated to the Canadian office.  Rose Coleman and I opened, sorted and stacked products for these demos and I wish I had a camera to see their faces when they open these packages!!! The notes of well wishes and thanks to all the Compassionate Team members and to Dale and Carrie in the office were awesome!

Unopened boxes and envelopes - all donated by Canadian demos!!  Time to get to work!
Opening all the ink pads and this huge card stock stack!   Better than Christmas!
Bundles and piles of product to send to demonstrators effected by the floods!!!!

What a rewarding day!

K

San Diego - day 3

Morning :)

I'll share the last pics of our fantastic weekend in San Diego.  It's nice to be home but re-entry is always challenging :)

On Saturday we headed to the zoo! One word - HUGE!  I'm sure glad we spoke to the volunteer guides before we left the entrance because we were going to start by walking to the back of the zoo and work our way towards the front.  Didn't know it was over 100 acres!

So we jumped on the guided tour bus where it takes you around so you see about 70% of the zoo in 40 min and then you can go back and see some of the things you want to see in greater depth. Perfect!

I think we watched the polar bears for over 15 min.  They were awesome and something we don't have at the Calgary Zoo.  We tried to see many of the animals we don't have at home.

After a half day at the zoo we took a cab to Seaport Village and walked along the water - just breathtaking.

I love this statue and in behind is the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum.  You can imagine how big it is in real life!  See those people beside it!

In the evening we met up with a new demonstrator friend, Ange Mackay and her husband Sean.  We had a great dinner and laughed so much.   People watching in San Diego is a whole new adventure!  Great to meet someone in person that I have been cyber stalking for a while now :)  Go check out her blog as she does amazing work!

To finish the night of course pillow gifts :)

Thanks for stopping in and I'll be sure to share less vacation and more stamping projects the rest of the week!

Cheers,
K

San Diego day 2

What a fabulous day touring San Diego!

Pete and I slept in and headed to Old Town San Diego with scores of Stampin Up demos.

There are all these great little shops selling everything from ceramic house numbers to t-shirts, and hot sauces to jewelry.

My favourite store was this cool Root Beer store. Well it was more than just Root beer there but all kinds of pops from all over the US.

An entire wall of jerky - turkey, venison and even kangaroo??

A whole wall of Root beers

And a bunch of different kinds of sodas
Prickly Pear??  I know I heard about this one on a food network show!

Shirley Temple - I loved drinking these as a kid.

And one of my favourite ones - CHOCOLATE COVERED MAPLE BACON!  Ew but cool at the same time!

Then we went out to dinner at Dobsons.  Yummy food and our little splurge this trip.

This one is a little dark but this was taken before we left for dinner.

I tried their famous Mussel Bisque en Croute and it was yum.  So creamy and rich  - wow!

After a super filling dinner we wandered the Gaslamp Quarter and took in all the sights and sounds of San Diego.  This a great city to people watch for sure!!

I can't believe I can say this but I saw a dog driving a Porche. I don't have photographic evidence of this but it was true.  Pete saw it too.  Only in San Diego  . . .

A stop at this place completed the evening :)

Thanks for checking in.

Cheers,
K
